At Sea near the Channel

Day 47
Aboard the Constant
At Sea

Oh the joy I have taken in the spotting of England from the deck this morning! I knew we were close when I awoke to the scurrying of feet on the deck. I believe that the sailors, as well as the passengers, are excited to make land again. This has been an unusually long and unpleasant voyage, even for this time of the year.

I wager I shall be in Upper Grosvenor Street with the Gambles in time for supper before the week's end!

In anticipation of our eventual land-fall, which I surmise will occur just before dusk, I have gathered and packed away my things. Once we reach Portsmouth, I should very much like to be the first off the Constant and on the shore so I can get to London as quickly as possible.
